Background history of Brill Consultancy
Brill Consultancy was formed by Brian Ridpath in April 1978 originally to assist small to medium firms that were having difficulties with their financial and management accounting systems and staffing. Tasks undertaken since then have included the whole range from installation of simple basic bookkeeping controls to the complexities of profit planning and forecasting.
Assignments are usually six to 18 months, whether as a fixed project with defined goals, or as a hand-holding exercise as relief financial controller until a permanent incumbent is located.
Staff training and the instilling of confidence usually plays a large part in any assignment.
Assignments have often arisen due to shortcomings in the client's computer software together with poor training and management. Systems design and advice on software selection have therefore been supplementary to many of the assignments.
Since 1993 several one-man start-ups have been assisted in establishing their administration, production and marketing procedures, including patent considerations, to get off the ground.
